First time buyers have delayed purchasing their properties by six months and three weeks as a direct result of the pandemic and are prepared to wait longer before they attempt to purchase a property, according to research by estate agency, Yopa.
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau, low interest rates and strong consumer demand fueled a solid increase in new home sales in March 2021, despite the ongoing building materials challenges impacting the industry. Sales of newly built, single-family homes rose 20.7 percent from an upwardly revised February number, to a 1.02 million seasonally adjusted annual rate. This is the highest sales pace since September 2006.

Auckland and its surrounding regions have driven most of the recent growth in building consents for new dwellings in New Zealand, according to the latest official figures to be published.
In September 2015, some 2,242 new dwellings were given in permission in the country as whole, up 13% from the same month last year, the data from Statistics New Zealand shows.
The new build property sector in New Zealand is growing with planning consents up 24% in July compared with a year ago, the latest data shows.
Overall there were 2,824 new dwellings consented nationally, the highest number since march 2005, according to the figures from Statistics New Zealand.

Sales of new homes in Australia dipped in July but remained at historically high levels, data showed on Monday.
The Housing Industry Association (HIA) said its survey of large volume builders showed sales of new homes slipped a seasonally adjusted 0.4 percent in July, from June.
Demand for new housing In Ireland will continue to increase in accordance with population trends and a reduction in household sizes with 21,000 new homes needed per year for the next three years.
Details from the National Housing Statement by the Housing Agency points out that the population is currently at its highest for 150 years at 4.5 million and demand for homes is high as a result.
It also shows that affordability is an issue for those looking to buy in the greater Dublin area.
Overall house prices have increased across the country with the median price nationally at €152,000, up from €140,000 in 2013. In Dublin it is €260,000, up from €220,000 in 2013.
Some 200,000 homes will be made available to first-time buyers in England by 2020 if the Tories win the election, David Cameron has promised.
The coalition government has already announced plans for 100,000 cut-price homes for people aged under 40.
First-time buyers under the age of 40 in England can now register to buy new homes at a discount of up to 20% off the normal price.
The offer is part of the government's new "starter homes" scheme to encourage home ownership and construction on previously used "brownfield" land.
